That’s the belief behind the work of the Abhay Bhutada Foundation, an organization driven by the idea that every student deserves a fair chance to learn, grow, and thrive. Founded by Abhay Bhutada, the foundation has directed its energy toward supporting students through scholarships, STEM learning kits, and hands-on programs that help bridge the gap between potential and opportunity. The effect of its efforts continues to be felt by students and communities to date.
Focused on Student Empowerment
The Abhay Bhutada Foundation's primary mission is to empower students through education. From school-level interventions to targeted scholarship programs, the foundation has ensured that no student is left behind simply because of their financial condition.
One of the most notable examples of this was its collaboration with Maheshwari Vidya Pracharak Mandal (MVPM). This partnership led to the launch of a scholarship program specifically designed for students from the Maheshwari community staying at the MVPM hostel. The initiative helped students who were either academically excellent or struggling to fund their education.
Ten merit-based scholarships of ₹1 lakh each were awarded to top-performing students, while fifteen need-based scholarships of the same amount were given to those from economically weaker backgrounds. This dual approach not only encouraged academic excellence but also addressed the real and pressing issue of financial difficulty.
A Thoughtful and Transparent Selection Process
Another important aspect of the foundation’s work is its transparent and structured selection process. After careful evaluation by a committee formed jointly by MVPM and the Abhay Bhutada Foundation, candidates were shortlisted and interviewed. This detailed process ensured fairness, while also giving deserving students the time and space to prepare.
Making Science Accessible Through STEM Kits
Beyond scholarships, the Abhay Bhutada Foundation also took a practical approach to improve classroom learning. In collaboration with the “LearnByDoing” initiative, the foundation donated STEM kits to over 2000 students across eight schools in Pune’s rural belt.
This was more than just a distribution effort. It was about bridging the gap between theory and practice. The STEM kits helped underprivileged students experience science interactively and engagingly. Tools like microscopes, periscopes, and models of the human body allowed children to see and touch what they were learning about in textbooks.
In areas like Bursewadi, Dhanore, Malegaon, and Thakarwadi, where such resources were introduced, students felt a newfound excitement toward subjects like science and mathematics. Teachers also reported better classroom engagement and deeper understanding of complex topics.
Encouraging a Hands-On Learning Approach
The Foundation’s belief in learning by doing is a core part of its educational philosophy. By encouraging experimentation and curiosity, it aims to promote practical learning methods rather than rote memorization. Initiatives like distributing STEM kits are a reflection of this philosophy in action.

It further motivates parents to keep their children in school, seeing firsthand the kind of modern education their children are receiving, even in government institutions.
